Story of Winter

(Full name, Story of Winter - Forlorn Sentinel)

Delicate, intricate stars blink against light,
Melting with touch,
or breath of life.
The scent of cold..
So familiar and new.
Creatures leave behind not subtlety, but contrasting memories of passage.
These are the stories of winter..
Spirits escape with every breath,
dissolving with words,
with laughter.
Icicles dance upon boughs,
and beneath the sole gargantuan keeper of green,
nature's ballroom presents itself.
Across the windswept plain,
he stands,
For a moment..
A moment within this harsh beauty,
that we remember.
In the image of this forlorn sentinel,
seen though weary wisdom,
and captured with our senses.
Our memories hold the stories of winter.

For this season of winter and yuletide~
The first of my "Stories of Winter"

If old man winter were any animal, I'd imagine a bison..
I wish I could like.. record myself reciting the poem instead, because I always feel like the message isn't completely portrayed simply through writing.. the delivery is so important to me. Anyway, hope you guys enjoy.
